exStream is a two-year collaborative project in which five media art organisations, Hull Time Based Arts (Hull, UK); V2_ (Rotterdam, NL); Bootlab (Berlin, DE); InterSpace Media Art Center (Sofia, BG); t0 / Institute for New Culture Technologies - Public Netbase (Vienna, AT), are working together through the exchange of organisational, artistic and technological resources to create a common platform for the creation and distribution of new media art projects.

The main purpose of the project is to develop and demonstrate common methods and approaches to the use of new technologies in the creation and dissemination of new media art products, including research and analysis of new media technologies, education of artists in their use, and the development and presentation of art projects.

More specifically, exStream's primary aim is to promote free and open source tools through creative output via streaming and make these options more transparent through a series of workshops, artists' residencies, presentations and a final conference.
